Ukrainian bitcoin Foundation raised a whopping $6 million in new funding on Tuesday.
The Ukraine-based foundation launched its first-ever VC round in the form of a seed round, which saw funding from a number of well-known bitcoin investors including Kresge, Shed, and Blockchain Capital.
The Kresges foundation will now invest in several projects that aim to improve the quality of life for children and women in Ukraine, according to the Foundation’s mission statement.
The foundation also aims to promote the use of digital currencies for public good and inclusivity.
The Ukrainian government has also announced that it will establish a new body to coordinate financial activities in the country, a move that will also allow the foundation to continue its work in the digital currency space.
Kresge told CoinDesk that he hoped the money would help the foundation continue its development, which is already in its third year.
“The foundation is growing every day,” he said.
“We have a lot of projects in development.”
